“The unexamined life is not worth living.”~ Plato
Looking back at the past events in your life, what negative emotions could be improved? What limits are you setting in your life?
You may respond with something like: “Well, that was a long time ago and I’ve gotten over it completely” or “I can’t imagine how I could have felt any other way when that happened.”
That may be true in many ways, but often if there’s still some sadness, regret, or remorse around the past, there’s room for an emotional upgrade, especially if there are elements of your story that are largely unprocessed or unresolved.
For example, is there a conversation that never took place but should have? This is especially true if you’ve been having a one-sided mental conversation with yourself on the topic, one that could have been going on for decades.
If so, no matter when something happened, it’s not really in the past.
Finally, are there unresolved events—people you still owe money to or who owe money to you?
How much of your past directly affects your present?
“Everybody’s got a past. The past does not equal the future. Unless you live there.” ~ Tony Robbins
